Headed Home

I realized I never finished my entry - so here's the last segment of The Baltic Cruise. Forgive any typo's you found througout the report!

Headed Home

Our dinner with Barry and Susanna was a lot of fun. We finished up our packing, but the bags outside the door and time for bed before we had to catch our flight the next day.

The ship would only let us stay on until 9:15 a.m. at the latest; our luggage tags said to leave at 8:55 a.m. We decided to go ahead and leave about 8:30 a.m. Disembarkation was so easy. We were off the ship, had our bags and grabbed a taxi all in 20 minutes. We thought we might have to sit and wait with our bags because our past experience was that some airports allow you to check in no earlier than 2 hours prior to your international flight. It happened to us in Venice. Anyway, we showed up at the Lufthansa counter and had no problem turning in our bags. We headed for the Lounge and waited for our flight to be called; it was supposed to leave at 12:50 p.m. but it was about 20 minutes late leaving for Munich. As a result, some of people on the plane (headed for Washington) only had 10 minutes to make their flight. We had to walk quickly, but our flight began boarding about five minutes after we got there. The flight to Chicago was uneventful and again I didn’t sleep. Our luggage had been checked through all the way to Phoenix so we were curious when we landed if we would get to recheck or have to hold on to it till the next morning when our flight actually left. Surprisingly they let us recheck it after clearing Customs. We spent the night at the Hilton airport hotel and were back at the airport the following day to catch our 8:30 a.m. flight to Phoenix. The flight was completely full. We arrived in Phoenix and the car service took us home.

So home at last. Now I had to listen to Suki give me a hard time for leaving her for so long!
